Ochuko is the village drunk
The stout man with more drinking accolades than Donatus the wrestler
Rumours have it that his forefathers drank palm wine with the gods.

at Madam Caro’s Cool Spot, one evening
As men were drinking, eating bush meat, swaying their heads to local music
Ochuko came in, belching a joke
about planting his seeds in Mrs Ezenwa’s farm
But we held our tongue

With Mr Ezenwa within earshot;
A retired soldier with a house
built of live ammunition.
