In this market of life
I wander through the crowds
Of sellers and buyers
And hawkers of wares
Their voices rise and fall
In a concord of noise
But I try to tune them out
As I mind my business

My eyes scan the stalls
And my mind calculates the cost
As I bargain with the merchants
With a voice firm and fair
I know my worth, and theirs
And I’ll not be swindled
As I go about my day
Minding my business

For there are those who would see me fail
And those who would see me thrive
But I’ll not let them sway me
As I stay on my path
So let the world keep spinning
And the noise keeps rising
For I’ll not be distracted
As I mind my business and fly

A city’s hustle and bustle
Echoes through the morning air
Cars honking, people bustling
I mind my business, unaware

The world spins around me
As I sit in my little bubble
People rushing and scurrying
While I sit here and grumble
My mind wanders, and I drift away
Lost in thought, lost in time
The chaos around me fades
And I find peace in the sublime

The city moves on without me
But I am content in my stillness
Minding my own business
In this world of constant business

  • Isn’t it great to be able to mind one’s business? Just that sometimes you don’t know which and which of what is happening around you are not your business. Great job, poet.
